Eco Accommodation in Provence

The Restorative Philosophy of La Maison de Lune

At La Maison de Lune, we believe the ultimate goal is a harmonious relationship with the land and the climate. As a leading provider of eco accommodation in Provence that visitors can trust, our commitment is rooted in preservation, offering a haven as gentle as it is restorative.

Sustainable Design in Eco Accommodation in Provence

The architecture of the house serves as the foundation of our eco accommodation in Provence. Hot water for La Lune is provided by an energy efficient ‘Split’ system utilising an external heat pump. Where possible we use solar powered external lightening and all other lighting is provided by low energy bulbs.

Limestone Thermal Mass

The carefully restored country walls and cool limestone floors provide a high thermal mass. These materials are sourced from a local quarry some five kilometres away. As a result, the interior stays naturally tempered during the peak of the summer heat. We only employ local artisanal craftsmen to undertake repairs and construction to our property.

Heritage Preservation

By choosing to restore an historical structure instead of building new, we have significantly reduced the carbon cost of your stay. This approach preserves the local heritage while providing a modern, minimalist haven.

Resource Management for Eco Accommodation in Provence

Maintaining a pool in a Mediterranean climate requires a disciplined approach to resource management. To remain a quality choice for eco accommodation in Provence, we have optimised our water systems for maximum efficiency. We have converted the pool to salt water thus eliminating the need for unpleasant chemicals. Our pool utilises high-efficiency heating technology specifically designed for early and late-season use. During the peak summer months the pool is heated naturally by the Provencal sun, this ensures that your recovery and relaxation do not come at an undue cost to the local ecosystem.

Supporting Organic Production

Our planting philosophy revolves around utilising local species of shrubs and trees which can be found growing naturally in the local surroundings and are ideally suited to the dry conditions of Provence. We actively guide our guests toward the local vignerons of the AOC Ventoux a region that flourishes as a hub for organic wine production. This is a vital stop for anyone following The Wine Trail. We promote the use of local food markets where fresh produce, grown locally and free of plastic wrapping, is readily available, thus reducing the use of air-freighted vegetables from around the world.
